Guest performance as part of 10Hoch10 Bling Bling – the big anniversary bash

Equipped with his lyre, various microphones and diabolical charm, Viennese performance artist and singer Alex Franz Zehetbauer plays the jester in his new piece. No obligations, no worries and no filters: the jester has always had the privilege of being able to do as he pleases without having to face the consequences. He doesn’t mince his words, because no matter what he says, it’s sold to his audience as art. bonappétitsixsixsix relies on the special societal position or role of the fool, that allows him to create friction rather than consensus. Wherever this mischievous entertainer performs, nobody is spared: whether corrupt elites, the ass-kissing art crowd or just your regular daydreaming audience member – anyone can get into his bad books in a heartbeat. But don’t worry, because as soon as the shit hits the fan, you will be gaging for more!

biographies

Alex Franz Zehetbauer (*1990, Brooklyn) is a performance artist and singer-songwriter. His work operates at the intersection of theatre, music, visual art, and choreography. He studied at the Experimental Theater Wing at NYU and the International Theater Workshop in Amsterdam, and has collaborated with artists including Phillip Gehmacher, Jen Rosenblit, Taylor Mac, and Anne Juren. His work has been presented internationally at venues and festivals including the Gwangju Biennale, Sophiensæle Berlin, Gessnerallee Zurich, and steirischer herbst. His most recent works include Mouth at Each End (2025) and An Evening With (2023).

Making of an Animal explores the disturbing depths of animalization.   • Ein stark beschädigter roter VW‑Käfer steht in einem dunklen Innenraum wie auf einer Bühne. Die Türen sind geöffnet, die Karosserie ist mit buntem Konfetti, Farbspritzern und Kratzern bedeckt. Durch den Bereich der Windschutzscheibe ragt ein Holzbrett, auf dem Dach steht ein Reifen mit einem Blumentopf darin. Vor dem Auto liegt ein rotes Warndreieck, umgeben von verstreutem Metallkonfetti und weiteren kleinen Objekten. Die Szene wirkt wie eine künstlerische Installation, die Zerstörung und Dekoration miteinander verbindet.
