In the formative years of childhood, the television played roles far beyond that of a mere media device for German-Turkish director and performer Caner Akdeniz. With parents working in shifts, the television assumed responsibilities akin to a best friend, babysitter, and often a replacement parent, providing what seemed like answers to life’s fundamental questions—a modern-day oracle of Delphi.
From news and propaganda to reality shows and blockbusters, these broadcasts serve as reflections of ourselves and sources of our identity. Films such as Rambo, Terminator, or Titanic imprint notions of strength, masculinity, and romantic love deep within our collective psyche. It’s a weight that Caner Akdeniz carries literally in his solo performance—a sweat-inducing exploration into the realm of myths, stories, and the shared (television) memories that shape us.
On 11 October there will be a follow-up discussion with Sahar Rahimi at 9 pm.

„...power for the people: use your body... use your voice... make a choice...“
Cheerleading codes, familiar from sporting events, are both employed and subverted in this dance piece to convey unique messages. Glamour, glitter, and an eclectic mix of slogans create a joyful and ironic alternative to traditional forms of protest. Radical Cheerleading poses the question: what causes are worth taking to the streets for?Tickets

What if human bodies could be used to generate energy? This raises critical questions about which bodies are considered "usable" under this paradigm and which are not. The immersive performance Blackouts explores these issues by transforming visitors into a collective human power plant, blending party and capitalism into a complex narrative. Is this a solution to the climate crisis or merely a new form of exploitation? Are you a cog in the machine or the sand that grinds it to a halt?

In a monologue, Lulu Obermayer celebrates the radical artistic practice of Broadway dancer, choreographer and painter Marta Becket, who opened an opera house in the middle of the Californian desert in 1967. Lulu Obermayer tells a story of ghosts, time and devotion and of the (im)possibility of an artistic life. A mirage arises in which theater, dreams and fate become blurred.
