If human movement can be harnessed to generate energy, how does that transform our understanding of our bodies? Do we become an integral part of a natural energy cyle and through that overcome the percieved gap between humans and nature? Or does this just cause a new cycle of exploitation and exclusion: which bodies are deemed “usable” under this paradigm, and which are not?

service not included explore these themes in Blackouts through an immersive experience that blends party, revue, and gym. The performance negotiates questions of collectivity and the commodification of bodies. Superheroes encounter bodybuilders, cowboys meet pregnant pole dancers, and a line dance group interacts with a headbanging choir, all narrating stories of future visions or past natural disasters across five chapters. Each visitor, equipped with a step counter, contributes to a collective human power plant, gradually unveiling the performance piece by piece. This setup prompts reflection on the intersections of energy, exploitation, and human value in a future where our physicality is both a resource and a spectacle.

„...power for the people: use your body... use your voice... make a choice...“
Cheerleading codes, familiar from sporting events, are both employed and subverted in this dance piece to convey unique messages. Glamour, glitter, and an eclectic mix of slogans create a joyful and ironic alternative to traditional forms of protest. Radical Cheerleading poses the question: what causes are worth taking to the streets for?
